Ongoing Networking Group Meetings:
Our Networking Group has been meeting since
November 2001 and has been a great success!
The group includes approximately 60 participants from all industries, of all ages, with
20-30 members attending each meeting. Some are employed, some unemployed and some in transition.
We are a structured group, with the intent of getting results. We select
topics in advance, and Sherri facilitates the two-hour discussion at each meeting.
Our focus is on sharing job leads, company/industry information, job search techniques,
informational interview tips, and improving interviewing skills. We also discuss career
development options and how to resolve conflict in the workplace.
This is not a therapy group! We use peer input and feedback to build strategies
for career advancement and to develop effective communication techniques. Participants may be seeking employment, happily employed or seeking career
changes. Working members continue to participate to discuss career development
ideas and to share networking leads for business development purposes.
Most members have attended one or more of Sherri's workshops, which allows
everyone to build from the skills they learn in the workshops. We request
that each member completes a "data sheet", a one page document with contact
and general information to be shared with all members in advance of their
first meeting. The data sheets prevent us from taking up too much time with
lengthy introductions at the meetings. They also provide contact information
so that members can stay in touch and exchange information between meetings.
The group meets every other Monday at 6:30 - 9:00 PM in West Seattle. Casual networking from 6:30-7:00PM; meeting from 7:00- 9:00 PM.
A $20 per person per meeting facilitation fee is required. Please contact Sherri@resourcemaximizer.com
for the next meeting date.
New! A new meeting has been added for "Actively Looking" members, meeting on alternative Mondays, 11AM-1PM.
"...you have found just the right blend of interaction, instruction, and independence
that works for most of the people in the group. I personally found looking for a job
totally alone very uncomfortable and discouraging. I felt I was in the dark about
the process. Being a part of the group allows all the complications to make sense.."
" I can't say more strongly how much experience and wisdom Sherri has.
She kicks butt, calls it like it is, and if you do what she suggests
(which takes work and can stretch you), you will find what you're looking for."
